Bass Guitars 110 Dollars and Under
From LoveToKnow Guitar
For the bassist on a budget, the sight of a sign reading "Bass guitars 110 dollars and under!" would be a beacon in the night. Fortunately, you're in luck! The Internet offers some excellent bass guitars that won't cost you an arm and a leg. With today's competitive global marketplace, overseas manufacturers are able to produce quality, professional sounding instruments at prices that would have seemed unheard of years ago. While the old adage "you get what you pay for" is always good advice, you might be surprised by what is available at the budget end of the guitar market. No longer relegated to the back pages of department store mail order catalogues, discount instruments are becoming more and more respected as more companies compete for the consumer's business. The basses listed below will provide more bang for your buck than you might initially expect.
Excellent Bass Guitars 110 Dollars and Under
Check out the following discount four string basses, all of which are amazingly available for under 110 dollars. The links embedded in the list will take you to retailer's websites where these instruments are offered at very competitive prices. See for yourself!
- Rogue SX100B Series II: This Rogue bass is a steal at the price. The SX100B Series II has a maple neck and a rosewood fingerboard with a durable high-gloss finish on the body, neck and headstock to protect it from damage at the rowdy bar gigs you'll take it to. The bass is lightweight, making it a perfect option for a beginning bassist. Split-coil pickups and tone and volume controls allow you to dial in a warm tone.
- Kramer 420S Bass Guitar: Eddie Van Halen made Kramer guitars famous in the 1980s. The idea that you can get such a nice bass for such a low price from a reputable company like Kramer is just plain crazy. This bass has a 20-fret, tapered maple neck, adjustable bridge, die cast machined heads and a split-coil pickup. The finish and the pick guard make this bass guitar look as good as guitars that cost ten times as much.
- Dean Zone XM Bass: To be honest, the Zone XM should be included as an honorable mention because most places actually have it listed closer to 120 dollars. Nonetheless, it is included in this list because of the immense value it represents. This is truly a great looking bass. With a double cutaway basswood body, rosewood freeboard and maple neck, this unique looking guitar has style for miles. The 22-fret neck is full sized, and the soap bar pickup is high-output and rearing to go. While not technically under 110 dollars, one look at the Zone XM and you just might say "close enough!"
Other Reasons to Buy Budget
Even if you have the money to spend on high-end equipment, there are many reasons why a bass player might be in the market for a discount bass. First of all, not every gig is right for a handmade, top-of-the-line, beautifully ornate instrument. Showing up at a punk rock gig with a bass that cost more than the drummer's car is not a cool position to be in. In addition, sometimes non-bass players have a need for a bass. Perhaps you have a small home studio and need to have an inexpensive bass laying around in case someone wants to sketch out a basic bass track during a session. Finally, you don't always want your best bass to make every trip with you. For those times when you know your instrument is going to have to sit in the trunk for an extended period of time enduring extreme temperatures, you'll relax much easier knowing it was purchased at a "Bass guitars 110 dollars and under!" sale.
