About Blink 182
With a reputation for explicit raunchy humor and great guitar licks, Blink-182 is hailed as one of the founders of pop/punk music. Along with bands like The Offspring and Green Day, they picked up the music scene where grunge rock left off.
The band's main line up included Tom Delonge on vocals and guitar, Mark Hoppus on bass and vocals, and Scott Raynor on drums. Raynor's problems with alcohol lead to a break with the band in 1997, and he was quickly replaced by a young, heavily tattooed drummer named Travis Barker, who happened to be playing with Blink-182's opening band The Aquabats.
The band rose to even greater fame with the addition of Barker, and went on to record four more discs, including the landmark Enema of the State in 1999. With their final release, an untitled CD simply referred to as Blink-182, the band seemed to be making a transition to a slightly deeper musical style. Where that would have lead is left up to fans to imagine because in 2005 the band announced they were going on indefinite hiatus.
