What are Guitar Music Chords?

If you’re relatively new to the guitar, all of the language that comes along with it can sound like a whole lot of mumbo jumbo. So, just what are guitar music chords? Guitar chord and tab charts are essentially simplified versions of sheet music. They tell you exactly which chords to play when you’re trying to learn your favorite songs. Some of the chord sheets you'll find go so far as to show you exactly where to place your fingers if you’re just learning your chords. The benefit of learning using chords and tabs is that you’ll be able to pick up the basic structure of the songs quickly. This is always a great feeling, especially when you’re a guitar newbie and just want to get around to playing a song already! One downside is that these chords and tabs don’t usually show you the timing, so you may have to spend a little time strumming along with the recording to make sure you’ve got the right pace.

• Worship Advice: Worship advice is a little less rock and roll and little more traditional. If you’re a music leader at a church, this is the perfect website for you to find Christian guitar music chords for songs that are perfect for the entire congregation.

• Christian Music Web: For the die-hard Christian music fan, there is the Christian Music Web. This site has tons of resources for Christian musicians of all sorts, including those all important guitar chords. There is also a community for musicians to swap tips with each other, advice about equipment, links to band sites, info about recording and much, much more.

• Christian Guitar.com: No bells and whistles on this website, but there is a good database of chords and tabs for Christian guitarists and bass players. The site is very easy to navigate. (Note: this is a different site from the previously mentioned Christian Guitar.org.)

• Praisetown Worship Ministry: This website has a good mix of rockers and church appropriate Christian music in its extensive database of guitar chords and tabs.

• 1 Christian.net: 1 Christian was created by Christian music lovers, for Christian music lovers. Musicians swap their expertise and their chords on this site, and since they’ve been at it ten years, the selection of tracks is great.

• Tabs Lyrics Chords: This website doesn’t only cater to Christian musicians. In fact, it’s more a warehouse of sorts, filled with links to tons of websites that have chords and tabs for all different kinds of music. They’ve got loads of Christian music links, so take advantage of the fact that they’ve done the hard work for you and check out their recommended sites.

• Gospel Music.org: If you like your Christian music a little more on the Gospel side than the rocking side, then this site for you.
