Esteban Guitar Lessons

From LoveToKnow Guitar

Many people have learned to play guitar using Esteban guitar lessons. The DVDs are easy enough to follow, and come in a variety of levels to suit the guitar novice through advanced players.

Who is Esteban?

The guitarist the world has come to know as "Esteban" was born Steven Paul of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. Growing up, Paul developed a passion for the guitar, and actually began playing around age eight. As the story goes, Paul began to press classical guitar legend Andrés Segovia to take him on as a student in the 1970s. Although it's not exactly clear just how long Paul might have studied with Segovia, according to Paul himself, the master was the one who inadvertently provided him with his stage name "Esteban", the Spanish version of Steven.

Esteban's early career was cut short by an accident that left him with nerve damage to his left hand and an eye that was overly sensitive to the light. After spending a decade recovering, he finally regained the ability to play, and proceeded to branch out musically from classical guitar. Since then, Esteban has recorded dozens of albums, mixing classical guitar technique with popular melodies. His DVD guitar lessons and instruments have become well recognized from his TV infomercials and appearances on HSN and QVC.

About Esteban Guitar Lessons

Thousands of people have learned to play the guitar following Esteban's teaching methods. By and large, the reviews of the lessons are quite favorable. The artist teaches basic chords and correct fingering, but he's also quite enthusiastic about his craft, and encourages improvisation. The DVDs are also very convenient. You can take lessons at your own speed, and if you need to review a technique, it's as easy as hitting your back button. Some packages also come with an instruction book you can carry with your guitar to practice without aid of technology.

Unfortunately, the guitars that are sold in these package deals receive many less than favorable reviews. For this reason alone, it may be a better idea to purchase the lesson DVDs separately and select your guitar in person. With that in mind, check out the following Esteban guitar lessons packages.

  • Esteban Complete Guitar Course for Beginners: This two DVD set is geared toward would be musicians who have never picked up a guitar before. Included with the instructional DVDS are an easy to understand course book, a handy guitar chord chart and extra music videos. This set covers the basics and primes you for a more challenging follow up course. Available for about $25.00, this is a very affordable introduction to the guitar.
  • Esteban Gift of Guitar: This gift set has launched many beginners who have likely upgraded their original acoustic guitar for a better model. However, the two instructional DVDs make up for what the instrument lacks, and you also receive a carrying case, picks, extra strings and straps. The price of this kit is about $100.00.
  • Esteban Master Class Package: This set includes an Esteban acoustic cutaway guitar with amp pickup and case, and a set of five instructional DVDs. The package also comes with a 10-watt amplifier with volume, bass, treble and overdrive controls. A guitar chord chart is also included. The kit retails for less than $200.00, and although most enthusiasts recommend you have the strings changed immediately and the action lowered, it is a reasonably good value.

purchased your beginner guitar course. found it to be full of mistakes. barnes and nobles would not refund my money. for instance, pg. 37 has 3 mistakes alone. wher is pluck 3 in f chord? wrong chord chart in second a minor progression. where is pluck 5 open after second c chord progression you show in your video? i am only a third of the way thru the book and am getting frustrated with video mistakes as well as book mistakes. iam strictly a beginner and do not know the guitar well enough to assume you mean something else when you make a mistake.

Hi WIlliam- Perhaps you could contact the publisher of the Amber Ice DVDs and see if they have something like that. I couldn't tell from a quick search if anything is available or not. Good luck!
