• The Library of Congress: Finally, proof that your tax dollars are not going to waste! In recent years, the Library of Congress has gone through an extensive process of digitizing its sheet music collection. The result is one of the most comprehensive instrumental music archives on earth. Some of the items in the collection date back hundreds of years to the pre-recording era and have not been heard since they were initially performed. With a little patience, this database can uncover some of the most eclectic and historical music a guitarist could ever hope to find.

• All Tabs: This free source of guitar tablature is a fantastic resource for old-time traditional music. One of the best features of All Tabs is that you can search by musical category to find music that fits the genre you are interested in learning. The categories are organized into Celtic, bluegrass, old-time, classical, and fingerstyle guitar music.
