MCR biography

The History of MCR

My Chemical Romance formed in New Jersey in the aftermath of the September 11 terrorist attacks. Their debut record I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love was released in 2002 and featured the single Our Lady of Sorrows. However, the explosion of MCR's career corresponded with the release of their second record Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge. This platinum selling album featured four smash hits: Helena, The Ghost of You, I'm Not Okay (I Promise) and Thank You for the Venom.

Propelled by the commercial success of this record, My Chemical Romance began touring heavily with some of the biggest names in rock. They opened up for the likes of Green Day and Fall Out Boy and eventually co-headlined a bill with Alkaline Trio. Their success continued to snowball with the release of their third record The Black Parade which was another commercial smash that spawned the hits Welcome to the Black Parade, Teenagers, Famous Last Words and I Don't Love You. With each record becoming increasingly more popular, it seems like the sky is the limit for this young band. If you're a beginning guitarist and need some cover songs for your band to play, My Chemical Romance tabs will help you learn the songs that your fans will love.

Tips on Getting the Right Sound

Whether you're a bassist or a guitar player, you can find plenty of tabs for MCR on the Internet. If you're a guitar player, the band uses a variety of guitar sounds. At times they feature big, distorted sounds that often are combined with effects pedals to create a lush, large wall of sound. Other times, they use very clean, delicate guitar sounds. The bass sound is usually more straightforward, but at times the bass tracks can feature some effects as well. The trick is, sometimes all these sound varieties happen in the same song! This is a particular challenge if you're a guitar player. You'll definitely want to be able to, at the very least, go from a very clean sound to a very distorted sound quickly by stepping on a distortion pedal. Otherwise you won't be able to capture the full emotional wallop that the dynamic changes of the music of My Chemical Romance provide.
