Screaming Trees Guitar Tabs
From LoveToKnow Guitar
Fans of the Seattle grunge movement will be eager to learn how to play Screaming Trees guitar tabs. While bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains and Soundgarden made the biggest waves during the grunge heyday, smaller bands like Mudhoney, the Melvins and the Screaming Trees were also very influential. With their fuzzy guitars, strong melodies and heartfelt songwriting, the Screaming Trees are critically considered one of the greatest bands of the early 1990s. This article will refresh your memory about this fantastic band and then take you to places on the Internet where you can find tabs to play some of their best songs.
Who Were the Screaming Trees?
The Screaming Trees were a four-piece rock band from Ellensburg, Washington that formed in the mid 1980s. It seems like all the best bands have brothers in them (think of the Kinks, the Black Crowes, Van Halen, Oasis, the Allman Brothers, the Beach Boys, et cetera), and the Screaming Trees are no exception since they were formed around brothers Gary Lee Conner and Van Conner who played guitar and bass guitar, respectively. The band broke up in 2000, but vocalist Mark Lanegan has gone on to become a permanent member of the popular group Queens of the Stone Age. Lanegan has also worked with notable artists like Greg Dulli of the Afghan Wigs and Isobel Campbell from Belle and Sebastian.
The Screaming Trees' career was unfortunately too short since they only released three full-length major label albums including 1991's Uncle Anesthesia, 1992's Sweet Oblivion, and 1996's Dust. Their seminal work is widely considered to be Sweet Oblivion, and it featured the band's only real hit, the single Nearly Lost You. This song was also featured on the soundtrack to the film Singles. While there were no other radio hits, Sweet Oblivion is a classic record from top to bottom, and it features classic songs like Dollar Bill, Shadow of the Season, and Julie Paradise. Their final record, Dusk, was also critically received, but the band never achieved the same level of success that they found in Sweet Oblivion.
