This South African rock band has been one of the most successful acts of the last decade selling over five million units since 2002. Their music is a melodic blend of heavy metal, alternative rock and post-grunge. Seether started as a band in Johannesburg in 1999 and was originally knows as Saron Gas for the first three years of their existence. They changed their name to Seether (inspired by the Veruca Salt song of the same name) when they signed to the major label Wind-Up Records that released their breakthrough album Disclaimer. This album featured the hit single Broken, which was recorded as a duet between Seether singer Shaun Morgan and Evanescence singer Amy Lee. The song's inclusion on the soundtrack for the film The Punisher helped introduce Seether's music to a wider international audience, and they went on to tour extensively with bands like Staind, 3 Doors Down, Three Days Grace and Breaking Benjamin. The band continues to release successful records including 2005's Karma and Effect, 2006's One Cold Night, and 2007's Finding Beauty in Negative Spaces.
